  Grandfather Mountain: Towering 5,946 feet above northwest North Carolina, Grandfather Mountain is operated as a scenic travel attraction and is one of the world's most environmentally diverse perserves. Marvel at 360-degree views of mountain ridge after mountain ridge cascading to the horizon and let their knowledgeable staff help you find your own perfect mountain adventure.

  Blue Ridge Parkway: Outstanding scenery and recreational opportunities make the Blue Ridge Parkway one of the most popular units of the National Park System.  "America's Favorite Drive" winds its way 489 miles through mountain meadows and past seemingly endless vistas.  Split-rail fences, old farmsteads, and historic structures complement spectacular views of distant mountains and neighboring valleys.

  Mount Mitchell State Park: In the crest of timeworn Black Mountain lies summit of Mount Mitchell, the highest point west of the Mississippi. For those who ascend this mighty peak, what looms in the horizon is a feast for the eyes -breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, rolling ridges, and fertile valleys. Forested and forever misty, 1,946 acres Mount Mitchell Start Park will provide you with some the most tranquil moments you'll ever experience.

  Linville Falls: These falls are one of the most photographed for its breathtaking views and fantastic hikes. These falls offer an adventure for beginner to advanced hikers.

  Little Switzerland NC:  This is a summer colony in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The elevation here, ranges from 3200 feet in the village to 4000 feet on top of Grassy Mountain. This colony offers incredible views of Mt. Mitchell to the west, Table Rock, Hawksbill and Grandfather Mountain to the east, and the valleys of the South Toe, Turkey Cove and Catawba Valley. Little Switzerland was named because of is sweeping panoramas of deep valleys and distant ranges resembling those of the foothills of the Swiss Alps.

  Altapass Orchard: The Historic Orchard at Altapass is a 101-year-old apple orchard turned Appalachian Culture Center celebrating the people, music, art, and natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina.  Built by the Clinchfield Railroad in 1906, the Orchard sits on the Parkway providing some of the most amazing scenery on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

  Switzerland Inn: Located less than 4 miles up the road from the cottage; the Switzerland Inn's Chalet Restaurant is the finest dining on the mountain. Come enjoy a culinary delight while taking in the breathtaking view from our panoramic view windows, You can dine inside or outside on our patio.

  Switzerland Cafe: Located less than 4 miles up the road from the cottage; the Switzerland Cafe offers homemade soups, salads, delectable sandwiches, house smoked meats and trout, and of course, our famous desserts.

  Mountain View Inn: Located less than 8 miles up the road from the cottage and 500 feet south on route 226, the Mountain View Inn offers fine meals and desserts at reasonable prices. This is one of our favorite places to eat. The outside porch offers a great view of several mountain vistas and often you may observe hawks soaring among the clouds.
